As modern cultures move rapidly from analog to digital media, atoms to bits, the role of museums as preservers of artifacts becomes more important. Information and communication technologies are important tools for creating, sharing, and preserving cultural knowledge through the presentation and representation of museum objects. Today, this includes not just the atoms of real exhibitions, but the bits accessed by remote visitors from classrooms and living rooms all over the world.
